Technique 1: Run the QuickBooks system Repair Tool

  1. To start off, you need to download the QuickBooks System Repair Tool on your device.

  2. Now, save the downloaded file to a new location from where you can browse it easily (we recommend storing the file on the desktop).

  3. The next step is to close all the existing programs running in the background.

  4. Once done, run the program and install the QuickBooks file doctor tool.

  5. After completing the installation, browse the company file and tap on Continue to initiate the process.

  6. The process will take about 20 minutes when the scanning is over, restart your system to complete the entire process.

Technique 2: Access a file from a new folder location

  1. In the inception, hold and press Windows + E keys together on your keyboard. This will open a new window.

  2. Herein, locate the data file with the .qbw extension.

  3. You need to hit right-click on it and select Copy. 

  4. Afterward, navigate to C: drive and Create a new folder there.

  1. Now, give a name to this newly created folder as ‘QBTEST’.

  2. Enter this QBTEST Folder and then press the Ctrl + V keys simultaneously to paste the data file into it.

  3. Once done, hold the CTRL key to open QuickBooks.

  4. Finally, tap on Open or Restore an Existing Company and choose the QBTEST folder to complete the process.
